MugUp, compared with what you already use
First the apps that do what our study half does — flashcards and quizzes from your files. Then the apps you already use for one part of the day. Feature by feature, with the other app’s strengths written down first.
A tick means the app does it well; a dash means partly, or with a caveat the head-to-head page explains. Open a comparison for the notes behind every cell.

The apps you already use
Each of these is the best at one thing MugUp also does. The comparison is about the combination, not about beating them at it.

Notion, Obsidian and RemNote are not on the list because they are not competitors — they are where your notes already live. Upload them and MugUp writes the questions.
Questions
Why publish comparisons at all?
Because you are going to make one anyway, and we would rather you made it with the facts straight. Against the AI study tools, the difference is in the details — how strictly the questions stay inside your files, what game types come out, whether there is a schedule that brings them back. Against the apps you already use, MugUp rarely wins a single feature fight: Anki has the better scheduler, Quizlet the bigger library, Duolingo the better language course. What MugUp has is the combination, and the comparison is the honest way to show where that matters and where it does not.
What does MugUp not do that these apps do?
It reads PDF, plain text and Markdown, and the notes you type — no lecture recordings, no video, no slides, no web links, no scanned pages. It has no export to other quiz tools, no AI tutor to chat with, no custom card templates, no image occlusion and no audio on cards. Where one of those is the thing you need, the page for that app says so.
Does MugUp replace these apps?
Sometimes. It replaces the deck-building in Anki for most people, and the study set in Quizlet. It does not replace a beginner’s language course, a habit tracker for fifty custom habits, or a card template you designed yourself. Plenty of people use MugUp alongside one of them, and the Anki import exists so that switching a deck is a file upload rather than a rewrite.
What about Notion, Obsidian or RemNote?
Not competitors — sources. Your notes already live there; upload them, or paste them into a topic’s Notes tab, and MugUp writes the questions from them. There is nothing to migrate.
Something here is out of date.
Tell us. Every page prints the date its facts about the other app were last checked, and the contact page reaches a person. Other apps change, and a comparison that is wrong about them is worse than none.
